Baptism is a public announcement that you are committing to following Jesus. Symbolic of our sins being washed away when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. After we get baptized, God will start revealing His purpose for us. Have you been baptized? If so, what has God revealed about your purpose since that day? If you haven’t, how does baptism reflect your commitment to following Jesus, and what does it mean to you that God reveals His purpose after this step?
A Christian follows Christ, and one of the simplest ways we can do that is to get baptized. Even though Jesus had no sins that needed to be washed away, He still modeled the behavior He wanted to see from us. Who has inspired you to follow Jesus’ example of baptism, and how does their example influence your spiritual journey?
Baptism helps to prepare you for your next step toward your divine assignment. God’s purpose for each of us will always involve having an impact on other people. One of the beautiful things baptism can do is plant the seed for non-believers or believers who aren’t actively following to take steps toward asking Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. How might baptism help you understand your divine purpose, and in what areas of your life do you feel called to make an impact on others?
