As Children of God, we have an enemy named Satan. He aims to pull us as far away from God as possible, and one of his tried-and-true methods is to attack us while we’re vulnerable. He won’t attack our finances during tax season (at least for those who get money back); he will wait until the holiday season. He likes to wait until we’re in the valley to cast a shadow over us with fear, hopelessness, and other emotions that block out all light, leaving us to only perceive the darkness of the shadow. Can you share about a recent valley that Satan attacked you in? How did you respond? What was one major takeaway from your experience?
Since sheep are so defenseless, they have heightened senses that give them a better chance to escape when danger is coming. On the flip side of being so “scary”(easily scared), it means they are easily stressed out by change. For them, any change is a potential threat to their life. Like sheep, we enjoy the comfort and safety of our current circumstances and feel threatened when change comes. Our brains can’t always differentiate between a real or perceived threat or emotional pain vs. physical pain. What is a recent change that stressed you out, and what was the outcome that you feared?
Through all of Satan’s attempts to attack us, we must remember that we have The Good Shepherd here to protect us. Although sometimes we may stray from Him, He never leaves us. He is always looking to not only protect us but use the situation for the betterment of us individually and His Kingdom overall. What is a problem that felt threatening at the moment turned out to your good? What did you learn from that valley?
