To have peace, we must remember that we depend on God daily, much like the children of Israel when He provided for them through manna from the sky. It can be easy to doubt whether God’s provision is coming, but being able to do so is a sign of a mature Christian. Who is someone you’ve seen exhibit this level of dependence on God? What is a characteristic they possess that you think helped them successfully depend on the Lord?
God wants to guide us and is always there, ready to provide direction. In that, we must be willing to submit to His will for us and not try to steer Him toward our desires. What is an area of life in which you could use more direction? What might be the pillar of fire/smoke God is trying to use to lead you?
If we want to truly enjoy peace, it will require time out of our days to devote ourselves to His word. This will better equip us to “pack our peace in advance” as we navigate a world increasingly devoid of peace. We all have different schedules and responsibilities, but it’s still on us to devote ourselves to God outside of Sunday mornings, and God requires more than just a leftover minute here and there. When is the best time for you to take out of each day to devote to God’s word and receive direction from Him? How could you do more to protect that time?
