1. It can be easy to get caught up in the numbers when we’re trying to follow God’s path for us. Maybe he called you to start a business, but you don’t have as many clients as you hoped. Maybe he called you to build a social media platform, but you don’t have as many followers as you envisioned. Whatever it is, we must stay focused on God and follow what He called us to do, no longer worrying about the numbers we're tempted to rely on to reaffirm our path. What is an area of life where you focus on the numbers too much? What is something you can do to help shift your focus back to God?
2. When our numbers don’t look how we’d like them to, we can get anxious about where things are headed. This is when we really need to trust that God will take care of us, but doing so without neglecting what’s in our control. If our blood pressure is high we shouldn't go eat triple cheeseburgers, then count on God to bail us out. It’s been said that we should work as if it all depends on us but pray as if it all depends on God. What is something that you’re anxious about but should turn over to God right now?
3. In a lot of ways, being mindful of numbers is necessary for us to be on track with what God has for us. For example, we need to keep an eye on our budget to help keep us on track so we don’t find ourselves choosing between having utilities or tithing. The key is to not find security in the numbers or allow ourselves to become too prideful. What area of life that you take pride in how well you're doing? What can you do to make sure you don't start to trust in it more than God?
